Science Must Lead
Whenever I write “we” “us” “our,” I mean all eight billion of us. And because there are so many of us with a wide variety of beliefs living on different continents, the climate fix will take place over a long period of time.
Different beliefs, but all of us must rely on the same four ‘foundation bricks of survival”: healthy air, drinkable water, food, and shelter. I hope one day that climate science will unite us over the fact that the crisis imperils each of those four common life staples that exist on every continent.
I am an advocate for action against planet warming pollution and I hope you join me in this quest. I pray you will be motivated enough to begin your own research. Sadly, the everyday conflicts of each society are preventing more progress from happening at a faster pace. As dramatic as the consequences of Earth warming are, the only assurance driving humans to eventually becoming an endangered species is the utter failure to act. Once we win the uphill climate conviction battle, such endangerment will never happen. When will we unite for climate action and how hot and humid will the days become in the meantime?
While science requires an intelligent mind, as I alluded to before, having a general understanding of our situation requires mostly common sense. Notice I didn’t say, “understanding of our pending apocalypse” because that won’t be humanity’s final chapter. A crisis is defined as an emergency that can be solved by sound decision making - doing what’s required to overcome the crisis. Doing the right thing in this case will occur hopefully without too many years of procrastination.
Please know, a very pleasant, everlasting climate lifestyle awaits our young people and future generations providing we accelerate climate action right now. The good news is the dramatic transition is underway. But it’s currently at a snail’s pace due to the fact humans are pretty much wired to live in the present, and we struggle to plan for the future. We are a ‘see it to believe it’ species.
