A Sense of Urgency

Sacrificing now on behalf of children born in 2070 doesn’t enter our brain which is perfectly understandable. The demands on us to cope with the present is what matters most. Therefore, it is impossible to predict when our gradual global warming will become a gradual global cooling.

Since we were denied 50-60 years of preparation, no one knows how much more warmer Earth will get before the required amount of atmospheric decarbonization is complete. Very sadly, the longer the energy transition takes, the longer property and planet damage will compound.

Climate change does not have to be sudden and intense to be harmful. Small changes will accumulate over a long period of time resulting in the majority of the world becoming warmer and dryer until we collectively figure this out. While all regions will see an increase in temperature, some will see more rain and others will dry up. The truth is, it takes a repetitive type of traumatic climate event to get people’s attention. And the rate of climate migration, climate inflation, land/food/water conflicts, and climate caused bankruptcies will steadily increase at a slow pace.

The clean energy transfer is guaranteed to accelerate because the basic concepts of clean energy technology are already in place and are being improved upon daily. Humanity must be uplifted and filled with hope about everlasting Earth livability. The struggle that must be overcome exists in the “business as usual” mantra found in government capital buildings and around corporate conference tables worldwide.

The greatest news is that, not too long from now, the attitude towards energy transformation from pollutants to zero emissions will take hold because younger generations will fill the majority of the seats occupied by corporate ownership and government leadership. Our children, and their children, will usher in the clean energy transition because the older generation will no longer be around to interfere. The young adults will accept that every aspect of their future energy resources has to be reimagined into a whole new dimension involving multiple sources of renewable power, many of which are less expensive than fossil fuels, aka, dirty energy.

Due to fossil fuel emissions denial, there must be a sense of urgency because we have already lost so much time. If meaningful energy transformation from dirty energy to clean energy hadn’t commenced within the last three to five years, the warming planet we see and feel today will be nothing more than a trailer for a documentary nobody will want to watch. Fortunately, such a scary film will never be necessary. Recent climate record breaking achievements made during a relatively short time by those who have Earth’s pulse in their minds is truly astounding. Stay tuned next week.
